ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

 

INSTRUCTIONS TO SUBMITTERS

  • All submitters MUST begin by creating a new account.
  • For each author you will need: full name, designation/degree, email, and institution/affiliation name.
  • Please ensure all email addresses for all participants are correct.
  • For technical assistance, please click on the 'Support Form' icon located on the top right hand of each page for support. Support requests are answered within a 24-hour period.
  • Browser back and forward arrows have been disabled. Users must use the page progress bar located at the top left of each page.
  • Submitters may revisit the site as often as necessary to edit the submission (finalized or not) at any time before the submission deadline.
  • Please use one of the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox 4+, Safari 5+, Chrome 14+, or Edge. We do not recommend Internet Explorer.
  • Inactivity of more than 90 minutes on system pages will result in a session time out. Please save your pages intermittently to avoid loss of data.

Introduction

The PRiSM 11th Annual Meeting welcomes the submission of abstracts for original contribution to the field of pediatric sports medicine. To be considered for presentation, your abstract should involve or relate to a pediatric/adolescent population, either explicitly or primarily. Topics of specific interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

Please review this information carefully and submit your abstract in accordance with these guidelines.

The PRiSM Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to decline any abstract that does not meet the requirements outlined below. 

 

Abstract Submission Deadline

The deadline for abstract submission for the PRiSM 11th Annual Meeting is Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 5 pm ET. 

 

General Abstract Guidelines

  1. Abstracts must be in English.
  2. Abstract titles must be in ALL CAPS.
  3. The maximum number of words is 400, including headings, but not including author names and institutions (please see Abstract Submission Process section below).
  4. After review, the Scientific Program Committee will make the final decision as to an abstract’s format of podium, poster, or e-poster presentation.
  5. Generic drug and device names may be used, but commercial (product, brand) drug and device names are not allowed anywhere in the presentation.
  6. Authors may edit and modify their online abstract submission until the abstract submission deadline (Saturday, July 1, 2023 ).
  7. Abstracts published before the submission deadline are not eligible for presentation at the PRiSM Annual Meeting.
  8. Presenters of accepted abstracts are only allowed to present a maximum of two (2) podium presentations and one (1) poster presentation.

 

 

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION PROCESS

Abstracts will be submitted online.

 

Abstracts will be submitted online in a text box, with only the body of the abstract included (no author names or institutions). It is very important that you only submit the body of the abstract in the text box, as this will be used for the blinded review process. You may upload two associated jpg files that are 750 pixels wide. Any graphic tables need to be saved as jpgs.



ABSTRACT REVIEW AND SELECTION

Each abstract will be blinded and reviewed by members of the Scientific Program Committee. The Scientific Program Committee is composed of a multi-disciplinary group of PRiSM members. Final decisions are made on a numerically based average score.

 

Review of abstracts is based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific/clinical originality
  • Scientific/clinical quality
  • Relevance to the field
  • Ability to generate interest among meeting attendees

 

The Scientific Program Committee reviews will result in a recommendation for acceptance or regrets. Presenting authors will receive notification of acceptance or regrets by email in August.

 

Abstracts must be relevant to pediatric sports medicine. To be considered for presentation, it should include/pertain/relate to a pediatric/adolescent population (explicitly or primarily) and one of the following should be met:  

  • population includes youth engaging in physical activity
  • outcome measure includes Return-to-Activity
  • is a sports related injury/surgery/condition

 

ACCEPTED ABSTRACTS

All presenting authors of abstracts (oral and poster) must register and attend the 11th Annual Meeting and pay applicable fees.

Accepted abstracts may qualify for PRiSM awards:

 

  • Hank Chambers Award for Best Scientific Paper
  • Kevin G. Shea Award for Best Scientific Poster
  • Mininder S. Kocher Award for Most Promising Career
  • Inclusion and Equity Abstract Award

 

TRAINEE TRAVEL GRANT

The Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRiSM) Society seeks to establish an opportunity for researchers and clinicians from varied backgrounds to convene in an interdisciplinary fashion during the PRiSM Annual Meeting. The purpose of this Trainee Travel Grant is to allow students/trainees the opportunity to present their work at our annual meeting and to increase the diversity of our membership and meeting attendees. These awards are made possible through a NIH R13 grant that aims to foster an environment of collaboration among a diverse set of professionals and trainees involved in pediatric sports medicine research.

 

Eligibility Requirements 

PRiSM seeks applicants who are PRiSM student/trainee members or are applicants for membership to apply for this Travel Grant. You will need to be a PRiSM member or a member applicant to receive this grant.

 

Trainee Travel Grant Content 

  • Complimentary registration to the annual meeting
  • Reimbursement of up to $1,000 for travel and lodging expenses
  • Opportunity to present research at the PRiSM Annual Meeting via Podium Presentation

 

Application Submission Process 

If you indicate that you are a student/trainee, you will be prompted to submit the required components for the travel grant application. Please read the instructions carefully before completing the application. Do not skip any questions. Inquiries about this application may be addressed to the PRiSM office at info@prismsports.org. 

 

Along with all abstract submissions, the travel grant application is similarly due Saturday, July 1, 2023.  

 

Applications will be reviewed and scored with notifications sent by email in August.

 

Selection Criteria 

Grading will be performed by an unbiased team with the overall goal of optimizing the diversity of presenters at the PRiSM Annual Meeting. Grading will be based upon the overall merit of the application (as outlined in the abstract guidelines above) and the following applicant-specific criteria:
